Millwall striker Shaun Batt admits he thought he would spend the rest of the season at League One side Leyton Orient.
The 26-year-old, loaned out to Brisbane Road to build up his match fitness following a long-term knee problem, was recalled by Lions manager Kenny Jackett last week and has had an eventful few days. He got a late run-out at Wembley in Saturday's ill-fated FA Cup semi-final defeat by Wigan, and then climbed off the bench to hit a vital winner as Jackett's men beat Watford 1-0 on Tuesday night. "The loan spell was exactly what I needed, I had to get out to get myself some match fitness and some regular game time and get myself through regular Saturday-Tuesday matches," he said. "It's probably been three years since I did that regularly. It was what I needed and it's helped me to come back to Millwall a better player. "I wasn't expecting to come back. Initially it was a month and then it was extended until the rest of the season. "My view was that I was going to be at Leyton Orient until the end of the season so to get the call back, and how things have gone this week, has been a real plus point for me."
