Kitson slams ref Brown

Oxford's Dave Kitson says referee Mark Brown is "arrogant", "horrific" and "possibly the worst" he has come across in his career.

The U's 1-0 home loss to Bristol Rovers came via a 71st-minute penalty, awarded for a foul which replays showed was outside the area. He would later anger the former Reading striker by handing out just a yellow card to Rovers defender Tom Lockyer for a foul which saw Oxford's star man Alfie Potter stretchered off. "I think it is (a difficult afternoon) if you have a referee like that," Kitson told the Oxford Mail. "He was horrific. Absolutely horrendous. He was quite possibly the worst referee I have ever had in my career. "We have an incident where Alfie Potter is lying there on the floor with a leg in a brace. "He's saying to the referee 'what sort of a challenge is that?' and the referee is swearing at him, telling him to shut up and if he keeps talking he's going to send him off. "The lad is lying there with tears in his eyes and leg in a brace. He couldn't even talk to him. "He was probably the most arrogant man I've ever come across on a football pitch."
