Redshaw hails Shrimps form

Jack Redshaw has been impressed by Morecambe's start to the season as the Shrimps climbed to the top of League Two in his absence.

When it was announced Redshaw, 22, needed a hip operation this summer and the Shrimps would be without their top scorer from last season until Christmas, the naysayers suggested those at the Globe Arena could be in for a difficult campaign. However, Bentley's team are now fifth in the table, just one point away from the automatic promotion places and three off current leaders Fleetwood. Redshaw made an ahead-of-schedule return last weekend and is happy not to rush his comeback given how his team-mates are currently performing. Speaking after being named the League Two Player of the Year at the Northwest Football Awards, Redshaw said: "They don't really need me at the minute! They're on fire, they've been great this season. "There's been a lot of different goal-scorers and they're doing really well." The club rewarded boss Bentley with a new deal in October and Redshaw was quick to praise his manager for the work he does with very limited resources. "I think he's the right man for this club," Redshaw added. "I think this is maybe his 10th or 11th season so he knows the club inside out. He's definitely the right man for the job."
