King ends Bramall Lane stay

Sheffield United striker Marlon King has left the club after reaching agreement over the settlement of his contract.

The much-travelled 33-year-old joined the Blades in September on a short-term deal until the end of the season following his release by Birmingham. But King, signed by former Blades boss David Weir, has struggled to force his way into Nigel Clough's first-team plans and has not featured since the defeat at Shrewsbury in early November. He made a total of nine appearances for the club, scoring one goal in the home draw with Crawley in October. King has enjoyed a 15-year playing career since starting out at Barnet, signing for Nottingham Forest from Gillingham for just short of £1million in 2003, while Wigan paid £5million to Watford for the former Jamaica international in 2008.
