Andy Welsh will leave Scunthorpe when his contract expires in the summer, the player has announced via his Twitter account.

The former Yeovil and Stockport winger signed a one-year deal with the Iron in June 2013 but, after making just four appearances during a season plagued by injury, the League Two side have decided not to take up the option of extending the deal. Welsh, 30, has also had spells with Toronto, Carlisle and Sunderland. "Sad to leave Scunthorpe today some great people and great club," the midfielder revealed on the social networking site. "Such a frustrating season but happens in football. "So would like to say thanks to fans sorry you didn't see me a lot on the field but wish the club all the best and thank you 4 your support from start 2 finish."
