Pro deal for Bateson

Scunthorpe have handed teenage striker Curtis Bateson his first professional contract.

Bateson will join up with Russ Wilcox's first-team squad for pre-season training in July after signing a one-year deal. The Scunthorpe-born 18-year-old had a spell on loan at Gainsborough Trinity last season, scoring his only goal on his debut for the club. He follows in the footsteps of homegrown winger Hakeeb Adelakun, who signed his first professional contract on New Year's Day.
