Rochdale goalkeeper Josh Lillis has signed a new two-year contract at Spotland.

The 26-year-old, who was out of contract, was a key player in Dale's promotion-winning campaign, missing only one competitive game, and has been rewarded with a new deal. "First and foremost, his contract offer is deserved in terms of what he has done for the football club," Dale assistant Chris Beech said. "He was tremendous this season and was a massive cog in the wheel, helping us gain promotion to League One. "What's impressed me and Keith (Hill) this season has been the way he has distributed the ball. "Josh has developed a vision, which is benefitting the team as a whole. "Our recruitment and training programme represents people that can move and run, who are mobile and have pace, and his distribution is maximising people like Ian Henderson, Jamie Allen, Bastien Hery, who are landing on that ball - it's fantastic. "He got better and better as the season progressed and we're really pleased that we have acquired his services for another two years." Lillis kept 21 clean sheets as Dale won promotion from League Two.
