Shrewsbury announce that defender Mark Ellis has signed a two-year deal with the relegated League One side.

The 25-year-old was released by Crewe at the end of last season, having been there for the past two seasons. He becomes new boss Micky Mellon's third signing after recent additions Ashley Vincent and Nathaniel Knight-Percival. "It's been an exciting few days, I've made a couple of trips to Shrewsbury, had a look around, spoken to Mike Jackson, like what I hear and I'm happy to be here," Ellis told the club's official website. "Some might look at the move and think it's a backward step but I want to be playing in League One and the club want to come straight back up. "The more experienced players you get in and players who have played at a higher level gives the club that better chance."
