Burton manager Gary Rowett has expressed his relief after retaining the services of Damien McCrory for another two years.

The 24-year-old defender has played 99 times for the Brewers since joining from Dagenham in 2012. Rowett told the club's official website: "He was a big loss for us at the end of last season when he got injured, but he's recovering well and we hope it isn't long before he's back to full fitness. "He was one of our most consistent performers last season and won the Players' Player of the Year award, so he's well thought of by the rest of the team and having him here is a big plus." McCrory made 47 appearances for the Brewers last season, despite picking up an injury in their 1-0 win over Plymouth at the beginning of April, forcing him to miss the final eight matches of the season.
