Surgery blow for Elliott

Carlisle have confirmed that striker Stephen Elliott will undergo surgery this week on a ruptured Achilles.

The 30-year-old suffered the injury during last weekend's 2-1 victory at home to Oxford and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. "Stephen has ruptured his Achilles tendon," Carlisle physio Neil Dalton told the official club website. "He will now have surgery on Thursday evening with our surgeon and will obviously go into a rehabilitation process from there." Elliot has made 18 appearances and scored one goal for the Blues since joining on a one-year deal during the summer.
