Defender Taylor McKenzie is hoping he did enough on his professional debut to earn a run in Notts County's starting line-up.
The 20-year-old, who did not appear for the first team during his time with Sheffield Wednesday, was called into action in the first half of Sunday's FA Cup tie against Accrington after Magpies captain Hayden Mullins went off injured. McKenzie helped shut Stanley out but County failed to fire at the other end and were forced to settle for a replay, which will be played at the Store First Stadium on November 18. He told the club's official website: "It was a big moment for me. It was my professional debut and it was a tough game against a physical side. "But I was happy with the way I played and it was good to get a clean sheet. "It's been tough to be on the bench, but I've waited to get my chance. "I had to be ready when called upon and hopefully I made a good account of myself." McKenzie impressed experienced campaigner Mike Edwards, who he partnered at the heart of the Magpies defence. "I thought Taylor did well on his debut after the nightmare for Hayden coming off," Edwards said. "He's come in, and it's hard to do that, to come off the bench, but he slotted in well."
