Double swoop for Northampton

Northampton have signed Yeovil defender Brendon Moloney and winger Ricky Holmes from Portsmouth on loan.

Right-back Moloney, 25, who has previously played for Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, has agreed a deal until the end of the season. Former Barnet wideman Holmes, 27, has signed a month-long deal. Boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton: "He (Moloney) is an attacking full-back and a good all-round player. "He has played in the Championship so I'm expecting him to come in until the end of the season and sort out that problem position that we've had. "The two occupants of that position have not done enough, consistently, so we have to look and we have to make changes." He added: "(Holmes) is a winner. He has energy, desire to get in the box and desire to create. "I don't think either of our wide lads have got into the box enough, and we need competition there. "He's a good player in this league and finds himself not in the picture at Portsmouth, so we've moved quickly."
