Fletcher keen to keep York place

Wes Fletcher is determined to keep his place in the starting line-up after firing York to only their second home win of the season.

Fletcher, recalled to the side in place of the suspended Jake Hyde, fired a goal in each half in Saturday's 2-0 home win against relegation rivals Tranmere to lift the Minstermen out of the bottom two. "I'm very happy with my goals and happy to get that win at home," Fletcher said. "I like playing in that formation (4-2-3-1). I felt it gave me a lot more freedom to get in behind. It gave me a lot more chances and I enjoyed it. "I've come in and I've taken my chance. Hopefully I can do that next week. "I didn't think Jake should have been sent off (against Luton) but that happens in football. "I have come in and taken my chance, but I've got to keep doing that now. "I think it (the formation) gives us a lot more space and to get the ball in behind. "That's what I'm good at, I like getting in behind and getting at people." Fletcher is convinced if York can maintain their current form they will continue their climb away from danger. "It's good to get out of the bottom two but it's not over," he added. "We've got a lot of games to go and if we keep playing like we have done in the last two games I think we will push up (the table)."
