Scunthorpe's new loan signing Conor Townsend impressed manager Mark Robins during his debut against Yeovil at the weekend.

Townsend, 21, was drafted in on Saturday morning in time to go straight into the starting line-up in place of the injured Marcus Williams (back) and Robins was pleased with his promising start. "We needed someone to come in and Conor's got a decent pedigree and plenty of promise for the future," Robins said after seeing his side held 1-1 at Glanford Park. "With Hull being our near neighbours and also Conor's been out on loan before, so he's got some games under his belt. I thought there were some good things from him. "He got forward pretty well and did well, but to be fair he's only met his team-mates yesterday and he'd only met them after we'd finished training. "We've got to thank Steve Bruce for letting us borrow him and we look forward to his stay with us." Townsend, who will stay with the Iron for an initial month, has made only one substitute appearance for Hull, but has had previous loans spells at Grimsby, Chesterfield, Carlisle and Dundee United.
