Notts County midfielder Liam Noble has issued an official apology after being sent off for the third time this season on Saturday.

Noble received two bookings in the space of 60 seconds for dissent during the 3-0 defeat against Swindon. The 23-year-old was also dismissed when Swindon won by the same scoreline at Meadow Lane in December, and then received his marching orders during his first game back from suspension against Crewe. Magpies manager Shaun Derry criticised his player in Saturday's post-match press conference, saying "he's got a flaw in his character" and that he would have to "look at himself very deeply." And Noble took his first step on that path by releasing a statement on the club's official website on Sunday. He said: "I would like to apologise to everyone associated with Notts County. Firstly, to the manager, who picks me to play, I'm now not available for selection. "I would also like to apologise to all my players, I have let them down massively, and to the chairman (Ray Trew) and Aileen (Trew), who pay my wages every week and I'm not available to repay them on the pitch. "Most importantly, I would like to apologise to the fans. I've let down all of the travelling fans that were there yesterday and all of the fans following the game. "I will work hard to improve this side of my game. I wear my heart on my sleeve and sometimes get caught up in the moment, but I will be working hard to stop this."
