Scunthorpe captain Neal Bishop is hoping to return to action before the end of the season after undergoing surgery.
Midfielder Bishop had an operation to resolve a groin problem and faces several weeks on the sidelines. "It went well and we are hoping for him to be back before the end of the season," assistant manager David Kelly told the club's official website. "He will be out for the best part of a month before we can get him back on the training ground. "Bish has had a really good season and we have been very pleased with his contribution since we have come in. "He will be a miss but with injuries it opens up a spot for someone else, who can hopefully carry on where Bish left off." Bishop, a free summer signing from Blackpool, has been a virtual ever-present this season, scoring five goals in 38 appearances.
