Brentford have signed defender Jack O'Connell from Blackburn for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old centre-back, who has penned a deal until the summer of 2018, has previously enjoyed loan spells with Rotherham, York and Rochdale, who he helped to promotion to League One in season 2013/14.

Bees boss Mark Warburton told the club website: "We are delighted to secure another very talented young player.

"Jack is a player who has significant development potential left in him.

"He fits the profile of what we look for when bringing a young player in to the club.

"He will benefit enormously from working and playing with our senior professionals.

"Jack is a player that will add value for us on and off the pitch. I look forward to working with him."

Meanwhile, Jordan Slew has left Blackburn after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
