Clough: Long way to go

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough insists the job is not done yet, despite being nominated for League One manager of the month.
The green shoots of recovery are beginning to show at Bramall Lane after a terrible start to the season, with Clough leading his side on a run of just one defeat in 10 games which has seen them move out of the relegation zone. The Blades took their form into the FA Cup by upsetting Premier League Aston Villa at Villa Park last week with a superb performance, but Clough is remaining grounded. "We've been on a great run and we have to keep the same sort of form going," he said of his side who won two and drew two of their four league games in December. "It sounds easy but the players have to keep working hard on the things that have served us so well. One defeat in 10 is a decent run and we find ourselves climbing away from the bottom four. "We haven't achieved anything yet, we are only just above the bottom four so we have a long way to go yet. We want to get into that 'boring' mid-table, except it wouldn't be boring for us to get there." There could be a double celebration at the South Yorkshire club after forward Jose Baxter was nominated for December's player of the month and Clough believes he would be a fitting winner. "Jose deserves his nomination for the way he has played," he added. "He has scored some great and important goals for us and he has been a very consistent performer in that period. "We are looking to get more out of him. It's great for him."
