Sheffield Wednesday v Preston preview: Forestieri back for Owls
Friday 2 October 2015 16:31, UK
Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri could return to action in the home game against Preston.
Forestieri has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury sustained in the recent win against Fulham but has returned to full training this week and will feature unless he suffers a reaction.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal will also check on the fitness of defender Daniel Pudil, who was forced out of last week's win at Brentford with a similar problem.
Defender Jeremy Helan sits out a one-game ban following his dismissal for two yellow-card offences last weekend.
Preston are without suspended duo Bailey Wright and Joe Garner.
The pair were sent off during the 1-1 draw against Wolves last Saturday, with defender Wright now serving a one-match ban and striker Garner sitting out three games.
Manager Simon Grayson is hopeful defender Paul Huntington and forward Paul Gallagher will both be available following hamstring and calf problems respectively.
Right-back Marnick Vermijl will not be able to play against his parent club, while striker Jermaine Beckford (knee) remains a long-term absentee.
Sheffield Wednesday v Preston odds
The Owls are 6/5 favourites with Sky Bet to pick up all three points and keep in touch with the play-off places while a maximum haul for the visitors is priced at 23/10 and could see them climb out of the bottom three.
They are a point adrift at present and a draw - 9/4 - could serve the same purpose but Sky Sports Football League pundit Ian Holloway is tipping North End to record a surprise 1-0 win at 15/2 with Sky Bet.
Daniel Johnson has netted four league goals already for the Lancastrians and he's 12/1 to open the scoring with Paul Gallagher 8/1 to grab the first on his possible return from injury. Defender Tom Lees is one of Wednesday's joint top scorers with two and he is 28/1 to score first and 9/1 to get on the scoresheet again.
These sides last met in the 2011/12 season in League One with the Owls winning both games 2-0 and that scoreline can be backed at 9/1.
