Burnley v Coventry preview
Friday 13 April 2012 10:40, UK
Team news ahead of Saturday's Championship clash between Burnley and Coventry at Turf Moor.
Burnley boss Eddie Howe is hopeful of including Marvin Bartley in his squad. The midfielder missed the 2-1 win over Doncaster as a precaution after he felt his hamstring tighten in the previous match. Jay Rodriguez, who has not featured in the last five games after sustaining a hip injury, is nearing a return but this match will come too soon for the 21-goal top scorer. It is unlikely that fellow striker Martin Paterson (hamstring) will be risked again this season, but Danny Lafferty returned from the same injury to score for the reserves in midweek and his prospects look brighter. A run of three wins from the last four games has given Howe's men an outside chance of making the play-offs but they will need to win all their remaining games and hope for favourable results elsewhere. Relegation-threatened Coventry are hoping as many as six players will be passed fit for the trip. Strikers Alex Nimely (thigh), Cody McDonald (calf) and Clive Platt (hamstring) as well as defenders Richard Keogh (ankle) and Chris Hussey (hamstring) all played through the pain barrier in Easter Monday's crushing 3-1 defeat at Bristol City. Full-back Jordan Clarke also joined the walking wounded having been on the end of Brett Pitman's late challenge - enough to earn the Robins marksman a straight red card. But all six trained on Thursday morning and will be monitored ahead of the clash at Turf Moor, where Coventry desperately need points to boost their ailing survival hopes with just four games remaining. The Sky Blues will also hope to welcome back midfielder David Bell after his groin problems, but defenders Nathan Cameron, Richard Wood (both knee), Hermann Hreidarsson (shoulder) and midfielder Carl Baker (hamstring) remain sidelined.
