Derby v Doncaster preview

Image: Savage: Serves suspension

Team news for the Championship clash between Derby and Doncaster at Pride Park on Boxing Day.

Derby captain Robbie Savage is suspended for the game. The veteran midfielder received his fifth yellow card of the season in the home defeat to Reading and must serve a one-match ban. James Bailey could come back into the team in his absence. It is hoped Dean Leacock will be fit after a groin injury forced him off at half-time against the Royals. However, fellow defenders Russell Anderson (hamstring) and Gareth Roberts (calf) remain out. Forward Steve Davies (knee) and centre-halves Miles Addison (foot) and Jake Buxton (groin) have resumed training following spells out injured. Davies and Addison could be on the bench at some point over the Christmas period. Doncaster defender Joe Mills is hoping to return to the starting line-up for the clash. Mills, on loan from Southampton, was a second-half substitute in last week's home win over Middlesbrough following an ankle injury that had kept him out since early November. Fellow defender James O'Connor is not expected back from a calf injury for the Boxing Day clash, but could return to contention for the home game with Ipswich next Tuesday. Midfielder Martin Woods returned to the bench following a groin injury against Middlesbrough and could make his first appearance since the end of October against Derby. Defender Mustapha Dumbuya remains sidelined for another five weeks due to knee cartilage damage and centre-half Wayne Thomas (calf) is not ready to return.
