Preston striker Neil Mellor is a transfer target for MK Dons despite suffering an injury which brought his season to an end.
The former Liverpool forward is set to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines following a setback in his recovery from cartilage surgery. Mellor is out of contract in the summer and Dons boss Karl Robinson - whose side face North End at Deepdale this weekend - insists he has already spoken to the 29-year-old about a move to stadium:mk. "I want him desperately next season," Robinson was quoted as saying in the Lancashire Evening Post. "What a player he is, I want him here. I've spoken to him at great length about it. "I think Charlie MacDonald, Jabo Ibehre and Neil Mellor would give us tremendous strength. The chairman is backing me all the way to do it. "We know what our budgets are, we don't moan, we just get the best out of it. If we can find the room for players like Neil Mellor in there, then we will be okay for next season."
