Brian McLean has had his contract at Preston cancelled by mutual consent after some poor performances last season.
McLean, 27, made 18 appearances for North End during the 2011/12 campaign following his arrival at Deepdale last summer. Preston's chairman of football Peter Ridsdale said: "We have agreed to cancel Brian's contract and he's now a free agent who can negotiate a deal elsewhere. We wish him well in the future." The Scottish defender's final outing for the npower League One club came in a 2-0 home defeat against Leyton Orient on January 21.
