Lambert brace saves Saints

Southampton had to come from behind, but two goals from Rickie Lambert saw them record a 2-1 victory at Exeter.

The Saints came to within a whisker of opening the scoring when Dany N'Guessan's shot crashed against the bar but it was Exeter who led seven minutes before half-time when Daniel Nardiello chased a long ball and poked it past Kelvin Davies. John O'Flynn almost doubled Exeter's lead with a great shot that was brilliantly saved by Davis and Alex Chamberlain clipped the top of the bar with a great curler from the edge of the penalty box for the Saints. The equaliser came on 70 minutes when Lambert powered in a header from N'Guessan's deep cross and the big striker was again on target in the final minute to head in the winner from Dean Hammond's delivery to down Exeter.
