Colchester boss John Ward believes his team are beginning to find some better form away from home than they showed last season.
Steven Gillespie salvaged a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe after the hosts went ahead through Boby Grant, who was later sent off. "Last term on the road we could not even win a raffle but we have a point to take home with us and we have got to be happy with that," he said. "It's a sign of the progress that I think we as a club are making. "We can play better, we know that. But I am happy with the attitude and commitment that my players showed. I thought it was excellent. "It was just one poor decision that has let us down. But we have got something to take away and something to build on and so we have got to be happy with that."
