Megson plays down subs decision

Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson admitted the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is not their big priority after losing to Bradford.

An under-strength Wednesday side were weakened further when Megson took off three players - goalkeeper Nicky Weaver in the second minute and David Prutton and Jose Semedo in the 18th minute. After a goalless 90 minutes, Wednesday missed three of their four penalties while Bradford scored all their spot-kicks through Ritchie Jones, Michael Flynn and substitute Ross Hannah. Explaining his substitutions, Megson said: "I have got a lot of players I can choose from and I have a massive game against Charlton coming up. In the end, you have to do what is right for Sheffield Wednesday. "The rules of the competition say we had to put out six first-team players but I wouldn't have done so if the rules had been different. "No disrespect to Bradford or the competition but our big priority is not the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. But I definitely wanted the young lads to win."
