Barton a key figure - Brown

Preston boss Phil Brown is backing highly-rated midfielder Adam Barton to emerge as a key figure at Deepdale this season.
The 20-year-old linked up effectively with Barry Nicholson in the centre of the park during Monday's 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock. Brown told the Evening Post: "In the second half on Monday, I was demanding that Adam Barton got on the ball as often as he could. "That is the position for him, sitting in front of the back four and making us play, like an orchestra leader. He has got that ability but he has to demand the ball and get on it more times." Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll played for North End in their 7-1 win over Kendal Town at Parkside Road on Wednesday night. Carroll, 33, is looking for a new club after leaving Danish side Odense earlier in the year and has been training with Preston this week.
