Fletcher bemused after defeat

Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher could barely believe his side lost 3-1 against Port Vale after an impressive first-half showing.

Argyle took a 1-0 lead into the interval thanks to an 18th-minute 30-yard strike from Robbie Williams. However, a Jennison Myrie-Williams penalty and strikes from Ashley Vincent and Ben Williams sealed the points for Vale. Fletcher said: "I feel a bit shell-shocked, wondering how we lost that one. In the first half we controlled the game, played some really good stuff and got a deserved lead. "We eased off a little bit at the end of the first half but then we tried to push on from there in the second and got sucker-punched. From a game we were in control and winning we have come out with a defeat. "We speak to the players about trying to keep the ball and passing well, and they took it on board and really did well in the first half. We had some good movement from Alex MacDonald and Onismor Bhasera and we played some nice stuff, which is pleasing. "It's just disappointing when you lose the goals second half that you change from doing that. We spoke to the players about still doing the right things, whether you are winning or losing or having a good day or bad. If it's the right thing to do in the first half when you are winning and getting joy then it's still the right thing to do later on in the game."
