Clarets ease past Robins

Eddie Howe fielded a different XI in each half as Burnley cruised to a 4-1 friendly victory at Altrincham on Saturday.

New signing Jason Shackell took the visitors' armband for the first 45 minutes, but it was last season's Clarets captain Chris McCann who rifled home from the edge of the box to opening the scoring inside the first quarter of an hour. Danny Ings netted a solo effort three minutes after the interval, shortly before Charlie Austin bagged a brace either side of James McCarten's consolation strike for Altrincham.
