Herd expects Roots Hall exit

Southend defender Johnny Herd expects to leave the club at the end of the season.
The left-back made a goalscoring return for the reserves in a 3-0 win over Watford on Tuesday after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. But after a frustrating season during which he has started just six games, Herd admits his time at Roots Hall is most likely up. "It's only my personal view but I don't think I will still be with Southend next year," the 21-year-old told the Echo. "I had hoped to get a few more games this season and it's been a difficult time for me."
