Ricketts handed Shrimpers trial

Southend boss Paul Sturrock has taken former Arsenal and Tottenham midfielder Rohan Ricketts on trial.
Ricketts began his career in North London but made just one appearance for the Gunners before moving to Spurs in 2002. He made just 30 appearances before leaving in 2005. Since then he has played for nine different clubs, the most recent of which was German side SV Wilhelmshaven - who play in the country's fourth tier. The 28-year-old is now plotting his return to English football to revive his career. Sturrock is keen to assess Ricketts in a series of trials, the first of which should come this weekend.
