Southend striker Freddy Eastwood was pleased to have played his part in securing a vital 4-0 victory over 10-man Cheltenham.
The Shrimpers had only won two of their last 12 matches at Roots Hall and slipped out of the automatic promotion places to fifth in League Two. First-half strikes from Kane Ferdinand and Ryan Hall put Blues ahead before club legend Eastwood got his first goal since returning on loan from Coventry. Bilel Mohsni completed the rout as Southend recorded their biggest home win of the season. Cheltenham suffered an early blow when referee Trevor Kettle sent off Sido Jombati for fouling Michael Timlin after 19 minutes. "I'm delighted to have got on the scoresheet and hopefully I can go on from here," said Eastwood, who scored 49 goals in 111 Southend appearances between 2004 and 2007. "I have not played football for quite a while so it was great to score and it was great for the fans too."
