Manager Mick Wadsworth admitted his relief after seeing Hartlepool earn a first home win of the season by beating Exeter 2-0.
Goals at either end of the match from Gary Liddle and Nathan Luscombe saw off the visitors and kept up Pools' unbeaten start to the campaign. "It's nice to stay unbeaten and terrific to get a first home win, that's all important for us," said Wadsworth. "We ground it out at times, we were good and they changed shape and caused us problems - by and large we combated that. "We had a dizzy run last year just before Christmas that pushed us up the table and a poor run after it but the key is consistency. We are accruing the points as we go along so when we do have a loss it's not about dropping into the bottom five. "We've played the big teams and done well in them."
