Slade wants cup heroics

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade hopes the Carling Cup trip to Blackburn can kick-start the League One club's season.

The Os are rock-bottom of the table after a miserable start to the campaign which sees them without a win from their opening nine matches. But they famously took Arsenal to a replay in the FA Cup last season and ended up finishing narrowly outside the play-offs. After the Ewood Park clash, Orient face tough games against high-flying Huddersfield and Preston, but Slade feels they will bring the best out of his under-performing side. "We've got some difficult matches coming up but that might be the recipe we need, because to go and get a result against one of the bigger teams might just be the tonic," he said.
