Iron bid for Jennings rejected

League One outfit Scunthorpe have had a bid for promising Stalybridge Celtic striker Connor Jennings rejected.
The 19-year-old has been in fine form for the Blue Square Bet North outfit this season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions. But chairman Rob Gorski insists the Iron's undisclosed bid fell some way short of the club's valuation. "We expect a six-figure fee for Connor and we have had eight clubs showing an interest," he said. "We will not stand in his way but this offer grossly undervalues his worth. We've never had a player like him, he is hugely talented." Jennings, whose brother James plays for Blue Square Bet Premier side Cambridge, added to his growing reputation with a debut goal for the England C team against Gibraltar in November. His goals have helped Celtic, managed by former Morecambe boss Jim Harvey, climb to second in the table.
