Winfield injury not serious

Wycombe have been boosted by the news that defender Dave Winfield's knee injury is not as bad as initially feared.
Winfield was hurt in a challenge with Stevenage striker Chris Beardsley during the 1-0 home defeat to Boro on New Year's Eve. The 23-year-old defender missed the 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Monday as he underwent scans, which revealed no serious damage. However, Wanderers are still waiting to learn how long Winfield will be out. "Dave has severe bruising to the bone. We will assess him again on Wednesday," head of medical and sports science Stuart Ayles told the club's official website.
