Glovers trial for Routledge

Yeovil Town have handed an extended trial to Stockport County midfielder Jon Routledge.

The former Liverpool youngster impressed Glovers boss Gary Johnson during a friendly against Bristol City on Tuesday and will now have more time to earn a contract at Huish Park. Johnson was delighted with the way Routledge performed, telling the Western Gazette: "Jon was one of the trialists and one of the boys that did well. He has played in the Premier League for Wigan so he has got good pedigree. "He was at Liverpool as a kid and the reason he went to Stockport was because of Dietmar Hamann (former County manager), who asked him to go and they were players together at Liverpool. "When Dietmar got the sack the boy was left a little bit high and dry. We looked at him, we have not made our minds up yet but he is certainly one of the ones that was a positive. We were quite pleased that we got a couple out of it."
