Son behind Ronnie's Rovers return

Ronnie Moore has revealed his son Ian Thomas-Moore persuaded him to contact Tranmere chairman Peter Johnson about stepping in at Prenton Park.

Moore returned for a third spell in charge of Rovers with the Merseyside outfit only a point above the League One relegation zone after Parry was dismissed on the back of Saturday's defeat to Chesterfield, their 11th game without victory. The 59-year-old has been out of work since parting company with Rotherham almost a year ago and Thomas-Moore, a former Tranmere forward like his father, suggested putting a call in to Johnson. "I watched the game on Saturday, but I was there doing a bit of press work," Moore told Press Association Sport. "Our Ian called me at home on Saturday night and said 'Have you seen the news? Les has gone'. Apparently it was on Sky saying he was gone. "And Ian said 'Why don't you speak to the chairman and see what's happening?' which I did, but just to say that if there was nothing there long-term and if they wanted more time then I'd come in and do it until the end of the season for them." He added: "The main aim is to keep them up, so it's 13 games until the end of the season. If I keep them up then obviously we'd be looking at maybe extending that. If I don't then nothing will happen, will it?"
