Rovers sink O's to end run

Tranmere secured their first win in 13 League One games as Leyton Orient were beaten 2-0 at Prenton Park.

Rovers produced all the early pressure. O's goalkeeper Paul Rachbuka saved at close range from Andy Robinson, who then had a free-kick deflected over the crossbar. The Merseysiders continued to dominate without creating any clear-cut chances but they were almost behind after 25 minutes. Matt Spring was fouled just outside the box and hit left-hand post with the subsequent free-kick. Tranmere went ahead after 35 minutes. Robinson chested down a partly cleared David Buchanan corner and blasted home from 10 yards out Rovers doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time as Enoch Showunmi fired in from close range at the far post from a right wing cross by Danny Holmes. Orient sent on striker George Porter immediately at the start of the second half but little went right for them as they fought to get back in contention. David Mooney fired over and Owain Fon Williams saved well from Porter but in the end it was comfortable for Rovers.
