Big plans for Pools' Vic Park

Part of Hartlepool's football ground could undergo a major redevelopment according to the town's mayor.

Ambitious plans to build a hotel into Victoria Park's away stand, the Rink End, are just part of a large-scale proposal by the civic authority to transform the Mill House area of the town. Mayor Stuart Drummond told the Hartlepool Mail: "It is by no means certain and it is one idea raised as part of the masterplan. With these things I think you have to be ambitious. "There are other clubs elsewhere that have incorporated hotels into a stand. It is at an early stage and work needs to be done to see if it is feasible." The Rink End would be completely rebuilt in order to accommodate more than its current limit of 1,033 fans, with Drummond adding: "The club has said that with large away followings they are losing revenue because of the capacity of the stand. "If the stand was to double in size then that would be further income for the club."
