Saunders purrs over 'best yet'

Doncaster manager Dean Saunders felt his side played some of their best football of the season in the 2-1 win at Colchester.

David Cotterill's fine early opener and an own goal by Andrew Bond gave Rovers their third league win of the season after Magnus Okuonghae's deflected strike had got the U's back on level terms. Saunders said: "It was a great result for us - it's five wins out of seven for us now and two narrow defeats. I thought we started the game brilliantly in the first 15 minutes. "I think in that period, it was the best that we've played this season. We moved the ball and passed the ball very well. We've got some good players and we just need to knit it together. "We played some great football and controlled the game, but we're just not quite right yet.We were in good in parts before half-time, but we conceded a goal from a long throw. "It was a scuffed shot that deflected off both posts and went in, which happens. Colchester are a decent team and if they'd have won this game and again on Tuesday night, they're doing well. But we're doing well too and the table takes shape after about 10 games."
