Taylor happy with Gills' response

Gillingham boss Peter Taylor was delighted with his side's response to going two goals down in their 2-1 loss at Brentford.

The Bees made it nine home wins on the trot on a rain-soaked Griffin Park pitch thanks to a first-half Jonathan Douglas strike and a Marcello Trotta penalty. Cody McDonald gave the visitors hope late on, slotting past David Button to set up a nail-biting finale. And they almost stole a point but Bees keeper David Button made a superb late save to deny Jack Marriott. "At times we played some very good football against a very good side in Brentford who haven't lost for something like 15 games," Taylor said. "We played it long, we played it shot and we mixed things up. We've missed a couple of sitters to get back in the game so it could have been a very different outcome. "We were very well organised and at times put them under a lot of pressure. Perhaps my only disappointment was that we didn't score a couple more goals."
