Chris Beech reckons Rochdale had learned valuable lessons in League One since they last faced opening-day opponents Peterborough.
Dale will launch their new campaign at home against Posh for the second successive season having lost 1-0 at Spotland in August last year. "Playing Peterborough again on the first day of the season will give us a good marker to see what has happened in the last 12 months," assistant manager Beech told the club's official website. "But it will be a different time and a different opportunity. We're grateful to get a home game and we're looking forward to the start of the season. "We won't be surprised by League One, like I think we were when we started playing the first few games of the season last year - our performances were good but we lacked results. "Everything prior to the first game of the season is preparation and a lot of focus goes on that, but of course there are another 45 league games after that."
