Railwaymen running rampant

Image: Davis: Heaped praise on team

Crewe boss Steve Davis was overjoyed after the Railwaymen extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 1-0 victory over Hereford.

Midfielder Luke Murphy scored Crewe's winning goal 11 minutes from time after the visitors had been pressed all the way by the battling Bulls. "You have to ride your luck at times which we have done recently," Davis said. "No game is going to be easy when you're in a position high up the league and all the games from now on are going to be tough. "There are going to be lots of twists and turns from now on - there is nothing assured yet with lots of points to play for and all we can do is keep the pressure on the teams around us and do the best we can." Davis added: "It was a tough game which I had expected, they were better than us in the first half. "However, I thought we defended really well and our goalkeeper (Steve Phillips) brought off two good saves in the second half. Hereford had a lot of big lads and powerful boys, but we coped well and in the end we had enough chances to make it look more convincing."
