Hess sings Jackman's praises

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler has hailed the professionalism shown by midfielder Danny Jackman this season.

The 28-year-old has made 135 appearances for the Gills during two spells at Priestfield, yet has had to force his way into Hessenthaler's plans this season. Jackman did not make his first start until September, but has been a pivotal part of Gillingham's side ever since and netted a crucial second-half free-kick in the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday. "I have known Jacko for many years and I know he is a good footballer," Hessenthaler told the Kent Messenger. "Deep down I wasn't sure if he was in my plans (at the start of the season). I think he saw the midfield players we brought into the club and maybe thought he had gone down the pecking order but he has been absolutely first-class in training. "He is a good pro and a very comfortable footballer and I am delighted with him."
