Hessenthaler hails Gills spirit

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler was thrilled to see his side record a fifth win in six league matches with a 3-0 victory at Cheltenham.

The Gills are now within touching distance of a play-off place as the season approaches its climax. Two goals from Jordan Obita, both times capitalising on poor Cheltenham defending, saw the Kent side well on their way to their win, with Chris Whelpdale sealing it seven minutes from time with a tap-in from Danny Kedwell's low cross. Hessenthaler praised his side's team spirit as being a key factor in their current good form. He said: "The dressing room is so much together at the moment, they're all working really hard to achieve something this season, not just the 16, but 18. We had two young players who missed out, they're all part of a squad. "To come to a side like Cheltenham, score three goals and keep a clean sheet, it just says it all really. "We limited them to, I think, one shot on target, in the second half from the lad (Jermaine) McGlashan. I think Danny Jackman played him really well."
