Port Vale winger Lewis Haldane will be out for several months after suffering a broken leg against Tranmere on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old will undergo an operation on Wednesday after breaking his leg in two places during the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Prenton Park. Haldane incurred the injury after landing awkwardly following a challenge. Haldane has been unfortunate with injuries since his move to Vale Park from Bristol Rovers in 2009. Last summer he missed the first three months of the season when he had a bad reaction to an insect bite during pre-season training.
