Port Vale goalkeeping coach Mark Grew is set to leave the club, ending his 25-year affiliation with the Valiants.

Grew is taking a break from football to undergo a back operation but the 57-year-old insists he will still be there, if required, for manager Rob Page, who has signed a new two-year contract to remain in charge at Vale Park. "I will always be there or thereabouts if Rob wants to give me a call to scout or game or anything. We have a great relationship but this is going to be a break," Grew told BBC Radio Stoke. "I don't know how long I will be sidelined for depending on how this operation goes and it's a new era for me. "It's a new era and it will be Rob's team from this point. That's what he's been looking for. "We have got some good players at the club but as a manager you can be judged on someone else's signings. "There's quite a few out of contract and he will be discussing there futures over the next few days and he will be bringing in a few fresh faces. "From the start of next season that will be Rob's team."
