Northampton striker Steve Guinan has joined Forest Green Rovers on loan until January with a view to a permanent deal.

Guinan, who will turn 35 on Christmas Eve, played and scored against his new club in the first round of the FA Cup a few weeks ago. The former Hereford striker has been transfer listed since the summer and in total made 50 appearances while at Sixfields, scoring nine goals. Manager Ian Sampson said: "Steve will go to Forest Green now and will make the move permanent when the transfer window re-opens. "His chances here have obviously been limited and we hope this move works out for him. "It is nearer his home and I wish him all the best for the future."
