Northampton crashed 1-0 in their opening pre-season friendly against Brackley Town.
A goal from Eliot Sandy after 56 minutes condemned Gary Johnson's new-look side to defeat. Jake Robinson and Shaun Harrad went closest for the Cobblers before the break, but they rarely threatened after falling behind. One bright spot was the appearance of striker Tadgh Purcell as a 68th-minute substitute after 11 months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
